Canonical Visitation to the Pre-Novitiate Formation Community

April 14, 2026

Today begins the two-day Canonical Visitation of the Very Reverend Fr. Paul Martin Maria Gapuz, OSM to the St. Mary of the Servants Formation House— A community that serves as the seedbed of formation for religious and priestly vocations to the Servite Order here in the Philippines. Accompanying the Vicar Provincial is one of the Vicarial Councilors, Rev. Fr. Bryan Maria Eala, OSM.

As per ecclesiastical law, a canonical visit is an official undertaking of a religious superior wherein a religious house is visited in order to examine its progress and its realities as well as the community’s governance, practice of the rule of life and faithfulness to ecclesiastical discipline. For us Servites, it is a time of fraternal dialogue and paternal solicitude.

Welcoming the canonical visitators is the Prior of the community and Master of the Prenovitiate formands, the Rev. Fr. Edgar Maria Benedi-an, OSM together with his fellow workers in the formation team, Rev. Fr. Peter John Maria Ubanan, OSM (who is also the current OSM vocation director in the Philippine Vicariate) and Rev. Fr. John Gerald Maria Eviota, OSM.

We pray for the success and fruitful outcome of this undertaking. May the Blessed Virgin Mary, our Seven Holy Fathers and all our Servite holy men and women intercede for us and our communities.
